T-Shirt Quilt – $200 Deposit

This listing is for a deposit only. Making this deposit holds your spot in my quilting queue. Once your shirts arrive, I’ll walk you through the rest of the process, from layout approval to final shipping.

What You’re Getting

I’ll turn your T-shirts (or other meaningful garments) into a custom quilt that’s designed, quilted, and finished in my smoke-free home studio.

Here’s what’s included:

• Free-motion quilting over the entire quilt

• 100% cotton backing and batting

• Machine-attached binding

• Pre-washed materials to reduce shrinkage

• A quilt that’s built to last and made to be used

What You Need to Do

Send your shirts within 7 days of making your deposit. After your order, I’ll email you shipping instructions or set up a local drop-off (if you’re in the Kansas City area).

Before you send your items:

• Wash all garments with a strong detergent like Tide or Gain. No dryer sheets — they leave a film that doesn’t work with my interfacing.

• Do not cut the shirts yourself. I’ll take care of that. If you cut them too small, I may not be able to use them.

• Once a shirt is prepped, it’s considered part of the project. If you later decide not to include it, that doesn’t reduce the price.

Layout Options

You’ll choose one of the following:

Tiled Quilt

Clean, grid-style layout. Ideal for 12–25 garments.

Mosaic Quilt

More flexible design. Best for 25+ items or varied sizes.

Fabric Policy

If you want to provide your own fabric for sashing, borders, binding, or backing — you can, but it won’t reduce your cost. The price is based on time and labor. I don’t usually accept customer-supplied fabric because of quality issues, but I’m happy to take a look and let you know if it’s usable. Final decision is mine.

Layout Approval & Communication

Once I receive your shirts, I’ll lay them out and send you a picture of the proposed design. You’ll have the chance to:

• Request shirt placement changes

• Add or remove shirts

• Approve the final layout

Once the layout is approved, I’ll send you a final estimate. You won’t pay the balance until the quilt is finished and ready to ship — but you’ll know the total upfront. I’ll stay in contact during the whole process.

Pricing

This $200 deposit does not cover the full cost of your quilt.

Most quilts are at least double the deposit, depending on:

• Number of garments

• Size of the quilt

• Borders, sashing, and cornerstones

• Batting upgrades

• Custom quilting requests

• Design complexity

Shipping Details

• You’re responsible for shipping your shirts to me — I recommend tracking and insurance.

• Return shipping is not included in your deposit. I’ll quote it after your quilt is complete (including insurance), and it will be added to your final invoice.

• Local customers will coordinate pickup/drop-off separately — I’ll reach out after your order.

Additional Notes

• Quilts are machine washable and dryer safe

• All quilts are made in a smoke-free studio

• Deposits are non-refundable after 14 days

• No returns or exchanges on custom quilts
